[交流] Ph.d. student position

具体工作地点:
Ilmenau, Germany
薪金:
0.5 E 13

The research group Materials for electronics at Ilmenau University of technology is now offering a PH.D. position (1/2 E13) for 3 years. The Ilmenau University of Technology is a German public research university located in Ilmenau, Thuringia, Germany. The research group Materials for electronics belongs to both institute of materials engineering and institute of micro-and nanotechnologies (IMN). The lab has many modern instruments and facilities for nanofabrication and characterizations located in the clean room (over 1000 m2).
Topic description:
Recently, nanoporous gold nanoparticles have attracted much attention due to the unique structure and optical properties on the catalytic, photonics, bioanalysis, and bio-diagnostics. The optical (plasmonic) properties are quite different from their solid counterparts, and by far less well studied.
In this research work, the combination of solid-state dewetting and dealloying is used for fabrication of nanoporous gold particles. The goal of this research is to explore the correlation between the structure properties (particle size, porosity and pore size) and plasmonic properties.
This research work consists of fabrication of the nanoparticles with tunable parameters, materials characterizations by using SEM, XRD, EDS, FIB, TEM and so on, and optical measurement and simulation (FDTD simulation).
Profile of requirements:
The candidate should have master degree in physics, materials science or chemistry. Good knowledge and experiences in following areas are expected: plasmonic properties of noble metal nanostructures, fabrication and synthesis of metallic nanoparticles, and nanofabrication (lithography, Reactive ion etching), finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) simulation.
In addition, the candidate should speak good English or German and have the ability to work in the interdisciplinary area of physics and materials science and to write publications.
By interest please contact to Dr. Dong Wang (dong.wang@tu-ilmenau.de) or Prof. Peter Schaaf (peter.schaaf@tu-ilmenau.de).
