Abstract: The triterpenoids present in loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) leafs are mainly consist of ursolic acid, oleanolic acid, corosolic acid, maslinic acid and a variety of other active substances, are of high medicinal value. We optimize the extraction process of triterpene acids from loquat leafs. Using triterpenoid acid as an indicator, the ethanol concentration, solvent volume, extraction time and the number of extractions were studied by the orthogonal test method. We found that extracting loquat leafs with 10 volumes of 80% ethanol for 3 times, each lasted for 3h, resulted in high extraction rate. This process allows high extraction rates for the active ingredients with good reproducibility, simplicity and feasibility.
