Abstract
A stochastic model for the dynamics of a toxicant in the environment is proposed and analyzed. Then, a three-component model, consisting of a population density of an organism, and the concentrations of the toxicant in the organism and in the environment respectively, is considered. Estimates for the probabilities of persistence and extinction of the population are calculated.
