Cyclodextrins (CD)    Multiple mechanisms of CD-mediated intensification of steroid conversion include not only solubilization of steroids, but also the increase of cell wall permeability.
Increase of cell wall permeability   The cell envelope is shown to be a barrier to permeability, which is disadvantageous for sterol uptake and biotransformation. Improvement of cell wall permeability for sterol was achieved using various agents, such as D,L-norleucine and m-fluorophenylalanine, glycine,
lecithin, antibiotics. Cell sensitization to agents leads to higher quantity of AD(D) formed per biomass.
Special adsorbents   Adsorbents such as amberlite XAD resin are often used to increase the yield of steroids by absorbing toxic products
A rational design of fermentation media  Size and type of inoculum, agitation, medium composition, temperature, pH, and induction conditions were optimized
for particular bioconversion processes
Immobilized cell     Application of immobilized whole cells in combination with detergents and two-phase aqueous/organic system
can facilitate bioconversion

环糊精(CD)    CD介导的增强甾类转化多重机制不仅包括甾类的溶解而且也包括细胞壁渗透性的提高。胞外被膜被证明对渗透性是一种阻碍,这不利于甾醇类的吸收和生物转化。对于甾醇类来说,细胞壁渗透性是通过使用D,L -正亮氨酸和间氟苯丙氨酸、甘氨酸、卵磷脂、抗生素等各种附加剂而得到了改善。对附加剂的细胞致敏性导致了每单位生物量形成更多量的AD(D)。大网状树脂一类的吸附剂经常被用于通过吸收有毒产物来提高甾体的收率发酵培养基的合理设计  为特定的生物转化工艺优化了种菌的用量和种类、搅拌、培养基组分、温度、 pH值和诱导条件
固定化细胞     结合清洁剂的全细胞固定化以及水/有机两相系统的应用能够促进生物转化
