The effects of grain sizes and grain composition of silica powders to the properties of the composite materials were investigated, especially the effects to pore size distribution. In this study, four different size silica powders were selected to test, the experimental results showed that the grain sizes of silica powders had no influence to the glass transition temperature and compression performance of the composite materials. Water absorption of the composite materials promoted slight with the increasing of the grain sizes. Two silica powders with reasonable grain sizes were selected and used for grain composition based on the Dinger-Funk model, then, the mass fraction(92% and 8%, respectively) of the two silica powders in the most closely accumulated state were calculated by using Matlab. The effects of grain composition to compression performance, water absorption and pore size distribution were studied and found that grain composition has no effect on compression performance of the composite materials. The water absorption has a trend of decrease with the increasing of mass fraction of SS-1 silica powde. The materials had widely pore size distributions, which were basically concentrated in 2-12nm and had on obvious correlation. The average pore size of BJH desorption and multipoint BET were the smallest when the mass fraction of SS-1 was 92% and the system was in the most closely accumulated state, which was consistent with the water absorption changeed with the mass fraction of SS-1, and the reasonable and applicable of grain composition were verified simultaneously. |
