Postdoctoral Research Fellow on Physical/Chemical/Material Sciences Chongqing University - ÖØÇìÊÐ Job Description The Department of Applied Physics at Chongqing University in China is now looking for postdoctoral researchers in novel material sciences. Three positions for different backgrounds are available, one for electrochemistry (a), one for theoretical calculations (b), the other for electrodynamics (c). (a) Ideal candidates should have experience either in functional materials including lithium ion battery, pseudo-capacitors, catalysts. Candidates with experience for nano material synthesis and characterization are appreciated. The job consists of analysis for multi-ions in aqueous/non-aqueous solutions with functional materials. Candidates would be expected to conduct hands-on experiments, characterize and analyze the intercalations /deintercalations of co-exist ions between cathodes and electrolytes. (b) Candidates should have a Ph. D degree major in theoretical/computational condensed matter physics or related fields. Those who are familiar with VASP or Quantum Espresso are appreciated. Knowledge with C/C++/matlab are also required. The job consists of theoretical analysis for atomic level mechanism for functional materials and corresponding processing. Advanced coding or software development experience is privileged. These two researches are expected to combine both practical and theoretical researches in understanding the detailed mechanism of electrochemical functional materials from atomic level to macroscopic level. Applicants are expected to have good records in scientific research, excellent written/oral English. Successful candidates of those positions are expected to participate in supervising students with related topics. (c) We appreciate candidates with a Ph. D degree majored in condensed matter physics or related fields. And those who have solid background in electrodynamics and solid state physics, familiar with commercial softwares such as COMSOL, CST as well. The job consists of both analytical modeling and numerical simulations for the properties of scattering and propagation of electromagnetic waves in certain artificial structures. This research aims to explore the properties of some new concepts in photonics such as topological phase transition, PT symmetry, etc., inspired by recent developments in condensed matter physics. Applicants are expected to have good records in scientific researches, excellent written and oral English skills. Qualified candidates are expected to supervise students with related topics. These positions are available from 2015, and extendable to two years, with starting salaries from 18,000~25,000 USD (paid in RMB) per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
