| In the last few years a yellow-green to brown mixture of two garnet species, grossular and andradite, has been coming from the Diakon Arrondissement, Mali (table 1), and is being sold as grandite, a combination of the first few letters of each species. The crystals occur in perfect dodecahedra, and the cutting material comes from the cores of the crystals. The colors of the gems range from grass-green to a highly dispersive honey-brown color. |
