| A table of some of the largest stones from each locality, compiled by Patricia A. S. Gray, is included for most countries. These represent many of the largest of the varieties found in specific localities and are typically of the best transparent quality found. In most cases these stones have either been seen, or information on their size, quality, and color has been reported in reputable trade publications or gleaned from reliable sources. This is not a complete listing but merely a representation of thegemstones found in each country. Missing information, especially pertaining to locality, is due to a lack of interest by the gemological community to seek answers, or its failure to pass on what is known. |
