In both methods, polymerization proceeded homogeneously throughout the reaction and gave clear and highly viscous polymer solutions, which precipitated in a tough, fiber-like form when the obtained viscous polymer solutions were poured into methanol. The obtained PAs exhibited inherent viscosities in the range 0.35– 0.85 dL g-1 showing that the resultant polymers had moderate molecular weight. The structure of the PAs was confirmed by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy analysis. |
