Postdoc/RA/PO opportunities in Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University School/Research Centre: Air Traffic Management Research Institute 1. Research Fellow Research Fellow is to lead an inter-disciplinary research team studying various weather phenomena and their wide range of impacts on air traffic operations, and develop novel solutions for improved weather impact awareness and planning. Responsibilities • Manage research data and maintain research records • Conduct literature reviews for publications and research briefings • Inform study design and collect primary data • Conduct analysis of data and summarise research findings • Contribute to the production of research reports • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings • Support the ATMRI’s acquisition of “Enhanced operational decision through integrated Weather” Research Project with project management and engineering support activities • Interface directly with ATMRI client to provide technical input • Conducting project presentation and preparing research proposal • Perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigator Requirements • PhD degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university (Note: Degree must be in Aeronautical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university) • Strong programming skills in Matlab, R, Python or C++ • Experience in modeling and optimization of complex system • Fluent verbal and written communications in English • Able to work independently and assist junior researchers • Good statistical knowledge and skills • Good theoretical knowledge of research designs in general • Excellent organizational skills and able to work within given deadlines • Provides concise documentation of work • Highly motivated and research oriented • A capable team leader Preferred • Prior meteorology experience desirable • Prior experience working with air traffic management data or knowledge of National Airspace desirable • Good knowledge of airlines and air traffic management operations. • Strong publication record and experience in industry R&D projects will be an added advantage • Strong expertise in data analysis, data mining, and decision support system will also be an added advantage • Preference for working collaboratively in teams • Self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed Salary Range: S$3600-S$5200 Number of Vacancies: 2 2. Research Associate Research Associate is a member of the research team conducting various weather phenomena and their wide range of impacts on air traffic operations, and developing novel solutions for improved weather impact awareness and planning. Responsibilities • Conduct literature reviews for publications and research briefings • Inform study design and collect primary data • Conduct analysis of data and summarise research findings • Assist with preparing documents and briefings for formal and informal delivery, academic publications (e.g., journal, conference, book) • Contribute to the production of research reports • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings • Support the ATMRI’s acquisition of “Enhanced operational decision through integrated Weather” Research Project with project management and engineering support activities • Interface directly with ATMRI client to provide technical input • Perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigator Requirements • A minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field/discipline (Note: Degree must be in Aeronautical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university) • Strong programming skills in Matlab, R, Python or C++ • Experience in modeling and optimization of complex system • Good English writing and communication skills • Good statistical knowledge and skills • Good theoretical knowledge of research designs in general • Excellent organizational skills and able to work within given deadlines • Ability to work under little supervision • Provides concise documentation of work • Highly motivated Preferred • Prior meteorology experience desirable • Prior experience working with air traffic management data or knowledge of National Airspace desirable • Good knowledge of airlines and air traffic management operations. • Preference for working collaboratively in teams • Self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed Salary Range: S$3200-S$4400 Number of Vacancies: 2 3. Project Officer Project Officer is a team member of an inter-disciplinary research lab, studying various weather phenomena and their wide range of impacts on air traffic operations, and developing solutions for weather impact awareness and planning.
