Transparent Conducting Oxides (TCOs), such as tin oxide, zinc oxide, cadmium oxide, indium oxide, etc have been widely studied for their use in optoelectronic device and solar energy technology. Due to their optical and electrical properties, TCOs are used for photovoltaic solar cells, phototransistors, liquid crystal display, optical heaters, gas sensors, transparent electrodes and other optoelectronic devices [1,2]. Of these TCOs, tin oxide (SnO2) has attracted most attention for various applications such as solar cells, gas sensors, transparent electrodes in display devices like liquid crystal displays, infrared reflectors, plasma display panels, transistors, etc. [3e6]. Among the semiconducting metal oxides used for gas sensors, SnO2 is the most widely used material due to its low cost, long-life and good reproducibility. SnO2 sensors are used for various purposes, such as detecting inflammable and harmful gases like hydrogen (H2), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrous oxide (NOx) compounds [6,7]. |
