PhD, The University of auckland

2D and 3D conducting polymer structures to interrogate and sense biological cells. The PhD project will be highly cross-disciplinary involving materials chemistry, microfabrication of conducting polymer structures and their interaction with biological cells. The PhD will be enrolled at UoA but the project will be highly collaborative between The University of Auckland and the University of Canterbury. The successful candidate should have following skills: • BSc(Hon) or MSc in Chemistry or related fields of science (with interests in organic, physical, material chemistry). • Experience in research with conducting polymers will be advantageous. • Experimental skills in materials science, polymer science, electrochemistry, nanotechnology and functional biology • Have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and ability to work in a team, be able to travel to perform research in the collaborators’ laboratories • Eager to learn, interested in applications of the research • Strongly motivated and able to communicate well Applications, including the candidate’s CV and a covering letter, or any further inquiries, should be emailed to either Prof. Jadranka Travas-Sejdic (j.travas-sejdic@auckland.ac.nz) or Prof. Maan Alkaisi (maan.alkaisi@canterbury.ac.nz ).
