妙译精选——读书笔记 “增益”（Amplification）翻译技巧在实践中的合理运用。 As a matter of principle, a translator is not supposed to add any meaning to or subtract any meaning from the original work. However, this does not mean that a translator refrain from supplying the necessary words to make his version both accurate in meaning and in keeping with the usage of the language to be translated into. In fact, it is precisely for the purpose of “faithful representation” of the thought of the author that “amplification”(which means supplying necessary words in our translation on the basis of an accurate comprehension of the original), as a “translation technique”, is often called for. １、 O, east wind, Without knowing me why should you come to see me? 东风不相识，何事入罗帏？ ２、 The breeze is illiterate. Why should you turn over the pages of my book? 清风不识字，何必乱翻书？ ３、 Eastward-rushing water will not peep back 东流之水不西顾。 ４、 Time is a great healer. 时间是治愈创伤的良药。 ５、 Lie has short legs. 谎言（流言蜚语）是站不住脚的。 ６、 Truth speaks louder. 真理昭然。 ７、 Once the wife of a parson, always of a parson. 嫁鸡随鸡，嫁狗随狗。 ８、I beg you a thousand pardons 请你千万谅解。（也许又有人认为“一千怎么翻译成了千万”，烂文章！） 注解： 以上译法除了使用翻译常用的技巧“增益”(Amplification)之外，还巧妙地使用了一些修辞手法，如夸张手法： (Hyperbole is a figure of speech in which exaggeration is used to emphasize a point, to create humor, or to achieve some similar effect. Hyperbole is very common in daily conversation. There are many ways in using it. ) |
