[交流] PhD position in France: Bifunctional materials

Bifunctional materials combining energy storage and energy conversion from sunlight. Photovoltaic devices are typically penalized by their intrinsic intermittent power output driven by light illumination rise and fall at different time scales (second to hours). To provide stable and reliable sun power energy, these systems require their hybridization with an electrochemical storage devices such as alkali-ion batteries. We recently developed within the frame of the French hub for energy storage (RS2E, http://www.energie-rs2e.com/en) photonic bi-functional materials able to convert and store at the molecular level sun power to chemical energy through ion insertion as similarly to an alkali-ion batteries (CNRS international patent pending).
The objectives of this Ph-D position is to continue in developing inorganic and hybrid organic/inorganic materials of the future enabling fast and efficient conversion and storage capability, to study and understand the underlying photoelectrochemical processes of light-induced charge transfer processes leading to a first non-intermittent PV devices and to a photo-rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. This research will be carried out in a world-wide leading CNRS lab in the field (Laboratoire de Réactivité et Chimie des Solides, LRCS CNRS UMR7314). The project integrates high risk / high research outcome, good balance between fundamental and applied research, very promising for high quality scientific production. This project calls therefore for a highly qualified and motivated candidate whose skills are material science, electrochemistry and photochemistry.
