Research Assistant position in Cancer/Drug Discovery at the University of Macau

A research assistant (RA) position is available in Dr. Joong Sup Shim’s laboratory in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Macau (http://fhs.umac.mo/staff/academic-staff/joong-sup-shim-ph-d/). With an unprecedented support of Macau SAR Government, the University of Macau is now making a quantum leap to be the world class university with the construction of the beautiful new campus in Hengqin Island near Macau (http://www.umac.mo/new_campus_project/). The University of Macau (UM) has established the new Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) with the aim to perform highly innovative scientific research. The FHS is well equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and established biomedical core facilities including Genomics & Bioinformatics Core, Single Cell & Gene Expression Analysis Core, Drug Development Core, Transgenic & Knockout Core, Bioimaging Core, Proteomics Core and Animal Facility (information available at: https://fhs.umac.mo/research/core-laboratories-and-facilities/). Dr. Shim’s lab is working in the area of Cancer Research and Drug Discovery aiming to develop novel cancer targets and therapeutics. The candidates should be highly motivated and enthusiastic about scientific research, and have a background in cancer and cell biology. Priority will be given to those with Master degree with experiences in cell culture, basic molecular biology and western blot experiments. The successful candidate is expected to start the research project from mid 2015 with monthly salary of MOP16,000 (equivalent to 12,500 RMB). The RA will also have an opportunity to enter PhD program in FHS based on mutual agreement. The RA can stay in the campus accommodation (Postgraduate House) in an affordable price and enjoy various brand-new facilities within the campus.
