It is difficult. Although some journals do publish the synthesis and characterization of catalysts without reaction testing, these papers report the modified synthesis of well-known catalysts, such as zeolites. In other cases, for instance, the researcher's group already published the reaction results in previous papers, so the job of the current synthesis paper is to study in detail the inorganic synthesis chemistry and the physicochemical properties of their catalysts. However, if the job of your catalysts is to treat waste water, how can you demonstrate that your catalysts are useful without reaction testing?
