[交流] Learn from Mistakes

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.”

Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb."

These stories from scientists, normally the successful ones, otherwise their stories may not be remembered by us, can stimulate the people who are now doing some research. But we are now living in a world changing quickly, we need to feed ourselves or the family, if we don't have enough money or social status, who are willing to wait for the day when we are successful. So most of us just find a not too bad job and live a ordinary life. Only the ones having terrific talent or enough time and energy can succeed in the future.
