It is difficult to anwser this question, because this question cannot be answered easily. Before doing experiments, alway ask: (1) Is this research/idea meaningful? (2) What is the objective/aim of this work? (3) What kind of paper can be published if the research is done? (4) To publish this "paper", what kind of challenges do I have to face? (5) Is my machine suitable enough for this job? (6) What is the time line? Do I have enough time to do this before graduation? (7) If it's not meaningful and not suitable, then should I still do this idea? 如何面对实验中的挫折? One has to sit down and analyze: (1) Is this due to the machine? (2) Is this due to bad ideas? (3) Is this due to the bad interpersonal relationship? Then answer: (1) Can the specific problem be tackled, or should I change research ideas/directions? Sometimes one faces so-called "dead-end ideas", meaning that no matter how hard one is working, the ideas does not work. Then one should change ideas quickly. (2) At any stage of the research, always ask: What do I have right now? What data do I have right now? What is the existing value? And what experiments do I need to do in order to finish the paper? That way, the researcher will have a clear mind on where he is right now and where he is going. |
