Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells are currently considered the most promising clean energy-converting devices for stationary, transportation, and micro-power applications due to their high energy density, high efficiency, and environmental friendliness. Although tremendous efforts have been exerted worldwide in the development of PEM fuel cells, and much progress has been made towards their commercialization, two major technical obstacles still hinder the commercialization of PEM fuel cells, namely high cost and low reliability/durability. In order to address these challenges in fuel cell research and development, testing and diagnosis are an essential combined step. This book covers the recent advances in diagnosis and testing of PEM fuel cell systems, including the instruments and techniques for PEM fuel cell testing and diagnosis, and the applications of diagnostic techniques in practical fuel cell tests and operation as well. This book is a unique source of electrochemical techniques for the researchers/scientists and engineers working in the area of fuel cells.
