Selective Binding to Alkali/Heavy Metal Ions of Bis(benzoaza-15-crown-5)

The structure of compound 1 was determined on a Bruker SMART 1000 CCD detector/PLATFORM diffractometer using monochromatic Mo Kα radiation (=0.71073 Å ) in the range from 2.41°to 25.01° at 293 K. The final cycle of full-matrix least-squares refinement was based on 1727 observed reflections. Calculations were completed with SHELXTL (Simens, version 5.04) program. In the molecular structure of compounds 1, the two benzene rings lie in the same plane, two crown ether ring are also in the same plane. The dihedral angle between crown ether cycle flat and chain is similar to 90 degree. From crystal structure, forming sandwich complexes between 1 and metal ions is difficult because of the rigid in bridge chain. This is consistent with the later experimental results. In the experimental of solvent extraction, metal ions were extracted to organic layer from aqueous phase. Table 3 shows distribution ratios (DM) of various metal ions between the two phases. The relative selectivity of cations can figure up from following formula: DM = [M+]org / [M+]aq = %Ex / (100 %Ex). |
