英国格拉斯哥大学合成生物学全奖机会（截止日期1月19日，请感兴趣的虫友尽快申请！） 这是格大提供的面向全球的全额奖学金机会，导师是我们同一个大组的Professor Anna Amtmann，德国人。她是一个很nice的人，平常看着很凶，但只是对学术问题严格，对学生很好。Anna在学术上想法很棒，在她的组里做博士，发Planf Cell或Plant Phy这个档次的文章不难。同时在她的组里有几名很好相处同时认真负责的博后，所以不用担心技术学习上的困难。在同一个大组里，还有我和师兄两名中国人，所以也不用担心初次来英生活语言上的问题。由于之前我和师兄比较努力，Anna对招收中国学生很感兴趣，所以欢迎大家申请！如果有兴趣，或有什么具体问题，请站内信或尽快发邮件联系Professor Anna Amtmann，anna.amtmann@glasgow.ac.uk。 课题名称：Light-powered protocells for bio-diagnostics; a synthetic biology project 导师：Professor Anna Amtmann 奖学金来源：MVLS - Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Scholarship 课题介绍： The aim of this project is to develop a minimal synthetic protocell that can report on inorganic and organic substances in water, soil or body fluids. Using a synthetic biology approach (synbio), the student will introduce a light-powered rhodopsin pump into the membranes of protocells made out of robust polymers (polymersomes) generated at high throughput on a microfluidic platform. The electrochemical potential created across the membrane will be used to energize proton-coupled uptake of the targeted substance (e.g. a heavy metal or a disease-related peptide) through a selective cotransport protein, and the resulting internal pH change will be monitored with a pH-sensitive dye. This multidisciplinary project will exploit cutting-edge technologies from photo-biochemistry and biological engineering for a synthetic biology approach to bio-diagnostics. Alongside the laboratory work, the student will critically assess the technology under the responsible innovation (RI) AREA (Anticipate, Reflect, Engage, Act) framework.
