Chemistry of Nanocarbons: Fullerenes, Carbon Nanotubes, Nanographenes and Related Materials (# 41) Area: Organic (#4) Takeshi Akasaka | Fred Wudl | Luis Echegoyen | Xing Lu | Chun-ru Wang 04.041-1P: Wednesday, December 16 (Afternoon) 04.041-2A: Thursday, December 17 (Morning) 04.041-3P: Thursday, December 17 (Afternoon) 04.041-5E: Thursday, December 17 (Evening) 04.041-4A: Friday, December 18 (Morning) (The symposium sessions will be held in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The poster session associated with this symposium will be held in the Hawaii Convention Center) Th e major goal of this symposium is to highlight the recent advances in the chemical functionalization of novel nanocarbons including fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, nanographenes, nanodiamond and related materials for basic sciences and to explore their potential applications. Among the various fields of nanocarbon science, the chemistry of nanocarbons, more specifically their chemical functionalization, still remains as a very active and useful subject. Chemistry is the study of the transformation of materials, and it is crucial for the creation of new functionalities in novel materials such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and nanographenes. The purpose of this symposium is to provide a forum for the presentation of all aspects of chemical functionalization and property valuation and characterization of nanocarbon compounds and materials. In the course of this symposium the organizers intend to have presentations from leading scientists in the fields of organic, inorganic, physical and theoretical chemistry and materials science. We also intend to have presentations from scientists in both industry and academia. Apart from serving as a crucible for the ideas being generated across geographical and disciplinary boundaries, the organizers believe the symposium would also generate new ideas and promote new collaborations in the pacific-rim countries. We are certain that the symposium will generate enough interest among potential graduate students, postdocs, and established scientists to enable them to pursue research on the development of chemistry of anocarbons - fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, nanographenes and related materials. http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o6l0q9O |
