One post-doctoral scientist or research assistant position and two PhD candidate positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Hongjie Zhang in the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Macau (refer to https://fhs.umac.mo/ for details about the thriving scientific environment, collaborative research community and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at FHS). Work in the lab is focused on the molecular mechanism of organ morphogenesis as well as in vivo sphingolipid homeostatic network regulation (refer to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21926990 and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22535410 for more information). The lab uses C. elegans as a model system, taking advantage of genetic, biochemical and functional genomics approaches, to decipher these complex questions. Requirements: The postdoc position requires a PhD in a related scientific discipline with experience and publications demonstrating expertise in any of the following areas: genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry or immunohistochemistry. The research assistant position requires a master’s degree in biology or related field. Experience working with C. elegans and/or a background in developmental biology would be preferred but is not required for the postdoc/RA position. The PhD candidate positions require a master/bachelor degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry (or a related field) and English CET-6 certificate (TOFEL or other English test scores are also accepted in UM, refer to http://www.umac.mo/grs/en/admissions_phd_regular.php for details of the UM’s English Language Proficiency Requirement). Highly motivated individuals with excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work independently as well as in a team are encouraged to apply. University of Macau provides competitive salary with very low tax, varying depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification: around MOP$21000/month for postdocs, MOP$15000/month for research assistants and MOP$10000/month for PhD candidates. On-campus accommodation with affordable price is also available for all candidates. To be considered, please send a cover letter, your CV and copies of representative publications to Dr. Hongjie Zhang at hjzhang@umac.mo |
