A solution of NaOH (1.6 g, 40 mmol) in methanol (40 mL) was added to a stirred solution of ligand1(6.0 g, 20 mmol), glycine (7.5 g, 100 mmol), and CuCl2 2H2 O (6.8 g, 40 mmol) in methanol (100 mL). The mixture was refluxed for 4 h, cooled to room temperature, and a solution of ice water (100 mL) and glacial acetic acid (10 mL) was added, then the reaction mixture was stirred for an additional 10 min.
