Hard work from the Editor, Elsevier, as well as many scientists resulted in an impressive first volume, published in 1958 and which consisted of more than 560 pages including contributions from top scientists in the field. Probably the most famous scientist who published an article in the first volume of Journal of Chromatography is James Lovelock, who invented the electron-capture detector. However, he is mostly known for his Gaia hypothesis, an ecological hypothesis that proposes that living and nonliving parts of the earth are viewed as a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single organism¡£ |
