It was introduced into a platinum crucible and heatedfrom room temperature up to 8001C at a heating rate of101C/min, and that temperature was maintained for 3 h to remove the carbonates. It was then heated from 8001C to 14001C at 51C/min, and maintained at 14001Cfor 30 min. The melt was cooled between two stainless steel plates at room temperature. The whole surface had a glassy appearance. The glass was pulverised into avibrating mill for 3 h and sieved, taking the fraction between 32 and 64 mm. Magnetic measurements showedit exhibited paramagnetic behaviour. |
