The AIE effect of DMCS-TPA was examined in THF¨Cwater mixtures via UV-vis absorption and PL spectra (Fig. S4 and S5† .The absorption spectra of DMCS-TPA are slightly affected with water fractions below 40%. When the water content increased to 50%, the maximum absorption dropped abruptly with a rise in the shoulder around 430 nm and the long tail region, indicating the formation of DMCS-TPA nano-aggregates. Meanwhile, the maximum absorption wavelength shows a minor red shift from 347 nm to around 355 nm, which might arise from the extended p-conjugation in aggregates. Correspondingly, the fluorescence strengthened dramatically above 50% of water addition. The PL intensity continuously enhanced with increasing water content to 80%, leading to resultant intensity more than 10 fold largerthan that of pure THF solution. |
