The optical properties of DMCS-TPA in solvents of varying polarities were investigated by UV-vis absorption and PL spec- troscopy. For comparison, the absorption and emission spectra of BMBCP in dilute solution are shown in Fig. 1. DMCS-TPA exhibits two prominent emission bands: one with a vibrational structure that remains located at around 430 nm and the other significantly shifts from 513 nm to 595 nm with the solvent changing from hexane to chloroform. The blue region emis- sions of DMCS-TPA, which are similar in different solvents, might originate from the DCS moiety because of their analo-gous spectra with those of BMBCP in the monomer state. The hypochromatic peaks of about 21 nm relative to those of BMBCP are attributed to the twisted molecular conformation and decreased conjugation induced by the steric hindrances.
