ICCP9 – Symposium C4: Topological Insulators

Dear Colleague,

Knowing of your interest and contributions to topological materials, allow me to bring to your attention the upcoming 9th International Conference on Computational Physics (ICCP9), that will be held at the National University of Singapore, during 7-11 January, 2015.  I'm reaching you, in particular, because you or your collaborators might be particularly interested in Symposium C4 that will focus on modelling of topological materials.
Scope: Topological insulators are a class of materials characterized by the non-trivial topological structure of their electronic bands.  Their most notable property of a d-dimensional topological insulator is a robust (d-1)-dimensional metallic surface state that is stable to local perturbations including disorder and electron-electron interactions.  By now there are several examples of topological insulators in two and three dimensions, and related materials including crystalline topological insulators, topological superconductors, Kondo topological insulators, and Floquet topological insulators.  Computational techniques played an essential role in the discovery of these topological materials, and this mini-symposium will be dedicated to the computational methods that are used in the search and discovery of topological materials.

Confirmed Invited Speakers:

Arun Bansil, Northeastern University, USA
Haiqing Lin, Beijing Computational Science Research Center, CHINA
Liang Fu, MIT, USA
Wei-Feng Tsai, National Sun Yat-sen University, TAIWAN
Yulin Chen, University of Oxford, UK

We invite you to consider participating in ICCP9 by submitting an abstract before October 15th. You might also consider forwarding this email to other potentially interested collaborators and group members, especially if you cannot attend but believe some of them might benefit from participating in this symposium and/or the larger conference.  You will find all the usual practical details at the conference website: https://www.physics.nus.edu.sg/iccp9

Please, feel free to contact us or the conference secretariat (details below) should you have any question.
Sincerely,

Shaffique Adam,
National University of Singapore, Singapore

Hsin Lin,
