| 只要是公立的，在你租的房子所在的校区（美国会按照教育情况分校区，不是行政划分额），那么就能无条件上该校区的公立学校，不用交钱。有免费的school bus，根据你的收入情况，有免费或者略微收费的早餐和中餐（即使全部收费，早餐一般1.5美元，中餐一般1.9美元），如果略微免费的话，早餐一般0.3美元，中餐一般0.4美元。但是注意一点，下午放学很早，一般2:30就放学了，这个时候你肯定在实验室，那么可以让小孩参加学校的after school，时间持续到下午5:30，但是要收费，我这边每天是收费7美元。这个比较贵因为这个是老师下班额外的事情，老美的人工费都很贵的。此外，你的小孩过来，记得带疫苗本和出生证明，疫苗本和出生证明不用翻译，过来后可以自己翻译的。到本校区教育主管部门报道的时候会看你的小孩的疫苗证明，如果差哪几针没打，会要求打完疫苗后才能报道。这个疫苗收费比较贵的，所以在此之前你一定要买保险，并且能cover这个疫苗费用。 |

The Registrar looks forward to working with each family to facilitate a smooth and timely registration process. Registering new students Parents and guardians may pick up registration forms in the Registrar’s office, 415 Stanton Ave., second floor, or download and print the forms from the Enrollment Requirements page. The District also requires these documents: Birth Certificate Passport/Visa for international students Immunization records Proof of residency, such as a utility bill, bank statement or lease agreement Current transcript for students in grades 9-12. We will accept an unofficial copy. After you have filled out the forms and gathered the documents, contact the Registrar by phone, (515) 268.6605; or email, registrar@ames.k12.ia.us to schedule an appointment to complete the registration process. Kindergarten Registration Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 15, 2013 are eligible to register for kindergarten. Boundary Schools The District assigns students to boundary schools based on the family’s address. Students who enroll after classes are full at their grade level in their boundary school may be assigned to a different school. Please contact the Registrar for more information and clarification. The District offers new students and their families the opportunity to tour the school they will be attending. Middle School and High School Students A school counselor will meet with middle school and high school students who are new to the District before they attend classes to determine the appropriate class schedule. Re-enrolling students The secretary at your child’s school sends out registration packets each May for students enrolling in the upcoming school year. Parents and guardians should return the completed packets to their child’s school before the close of the current school year. If parents and guardians did not return the registration packets to the school before June 5, 2013, they may bring the packets to the school when the building office reopens August 7, 2013. School Fees Parents and guardians may pay school fees by check or with cash at their child’s school until May 31, 2013. Elementary schools will be closed for the summer and will not be accepting check/cash payments from June 3 until August 7. Parents may pay online through the Ames RevTrak Web Store link (www.ames.revtrack.net) on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Infinite Campus Parent Portal Information: Infinite Campus is the District student information management database. Parents and guardians may set up one Parent Portal account per household. They may decide which parent or guardian’s name to use. The user name will be lastname.firstname. We ask parents and guardians to provide a password choice with a minimum of 6 characters when they set up their account. The Infinite Campus Parent Portal allows parents and guardians to access basic student information, update their household information and emergency contacts, and set up options for messages and emergency notifications from the school and District. Infinite Campus provides options for email, voice and text messages. Parents and guardians may also pay school fees and deposit money for school meals through the Parent Portal’s RevTrak Web Store. Before parents and guardians can update their address through the Parent Portal, they must bring a proof of residency document, such as a utility bill, bank statement or lease/purchase agreement, to the school office. During the summer dates June 5 until August 7, 2013, they must bring the document to the Registrar, 415 Stanton Ave. Assistance with School Meal Prices and School Fees To meet federal guidelines, the District gives an Iowa Eligibility Application to all families of District students when they enroll, and sends one through the U.S. Mail each July. Parents and guardians must complete and submit this confidential application to determine the family’s eligibility for free or reduced school meal prices and school fees. Without approval each school year, students must pay full price for meals and school fees. Only one application per family is needed each year.
