Conclusions Based on the observations described above, it could be concluded that: 1 adding alumina to iron oxide produced a solid solution that was better in its physico-mechanical and corrosion properties when used in paint films than using each individual pigment alone; 2 paint films containing 3Fe2O3: 1Al2O3 gave greater hardness values, while films containing 1Fe2O3: 3Al2O3 pigment imparted greater ductility and impact resistance, which confirmed that the pigments prepared improved physico-mechanical properties of paint films; and 3 paint films containing the pigments prepared showed high corrosion resistance than paint films containing Fe2O3 alone, i.e. the new pigments were more capable of preventing corrosion than Fe2O3 alone.  11.png |
