In the early 90s, it was deemed useful to enlarge the scope of the exchange of the technology to more concrete people in Malaysia, that OWICS initiated a similar conference in Malaysia, and titled it THE CONCRETE FUTURE. Two such conferences were held in 1992 and 1993 after which, the NRCAM decided to continue on its own to focus and concentrate on the local technological advancement instead of the international approach by OWICS and the series was temporarily halted. From the encouragement of some of those who participated in the series, THE CONCRETE FUTURE Conference has been revived and the 3rd international Conference has been scheduled for Yantai, China with the support from Prof Xingang Zhou, head of the School of Civil Engineering, Yantai University, China on 17-19 October 2008 to be followed by the 4th international conference in June 2009 to be held in Coimbra, Portugal, under the chairmanship of Prof Sergio Lopez, Dept of Civil Engineering, University of Coimbra, Portugal. It is part of the requirements of submission of abstract that the author or one of the co-authors will attend the Conference and present the paper. 2. Papers accepted for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings will have to be registered, with a text-inclusion fee for each paper. (2000RMB). This fee is not an additional fee but will form part of the registration fee. It is also an understanding that the Organisers hold the copyrights of the papers published in the Proceedings, which will carry an ISBN reference. 3.
