Electron microscopy
Electron microscope technique was used in this work to identify the morphology of the particles of the pigments concerned.

Thus, Figures 4-7 showed the particle shapes of the ironaluminium oxide pigments prepared, observed through a TEM at a magnification of 5×104 . As can be seen, from Figures 4-7, the shape of the pigments prepared was platy or flake. This platy shape provided a reinforcing effect reducing the water and gas permeability, therefore, imparting good anticorrosive properties and special appearance to the paint film when used in paint formulations. These particles were so fine that they appeared in aggregates as shown in the threedimensional SEM micrographs. Figures 8-10 were in agreement with Figures 4-7 confirming the platy structure of the pigments prepared. The fineness of the pigments prepared allowed the pigments to impart more homogenous texture to the film with a greater surface area, covering a greater surface area when applied as paint films.
