After test the panels were sectioned and the areas of corrosion/erosion were measured. FEM thermal mechanical model of the degasser lining has been used to analyse the snorkel wear. The calculation focused on snorkel lining configuration and material behaviour during thermal cycling. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION The 3-point hot bending strength (HMOR) shows how well the grains are embedded in the matrix, and gives direct indication on hot erosion resistance. Table II summarises the HMOR test results of the sample bricks. |
