EXERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
    Three kinds of samples were prepared: 1) two AZT ceramics, herein after referred to as AZT and AZTn, differing in the used zirconia and titania powders; 2) pure aluminum titanate (for adding presynthesized Al2TiO5 to the spinel material); 3) Al2O3-rich magnesium aluminate spinel with or without aluminum titanate.
    For preparing the AZT ceramic, 95 wt% of the alumina powder Martoxid MR70 (Albemarle: Martinswerk, Germany; d50 0.8 μm), 2.5 wt% of zirconia, and 2.5 wt% of titania powder were mixed. The ZrO2 powder P59 (Saint Gobain; d50 1.1 μm), containing 3.4 wt% of the stabilizing oxide MgO, and the TiO2 powder Tronox TR (Sachtleben, Germany; d50 1.0 μm) were used in the case of the AZT samples, aqueous dispersions of nano-sized zirconia and titania - VPDisp W2650x and VPDisp W740x (Evonik, Germany) - for preparing the AZTn samples.
    For the synthesis of pure Al2TiO5 by reaction sintering of alumina and titania, the powders Al2O3 Martoxid MR70 and TiO2 Tronox TR were mixed in a molar ratio of 1:1.
    12 wt% of pre-synthesized Al2TiO5, which was milled by means of the planetary ball mill “Pulverisette 5” (Fritsch, Germany), and 88 wt% of the powder AR78 (particle size range < 20 μm, d50 1.6 μm; Almatis, Germany) were used for preparing the Al2O3- rich magnesium aluminate spinel samples with aluminum titanate. Additionally, spinel samples without Al2TiO5 were produced.
    Aqueous suspensions of the different powder mixtures were prepared and homogenized in rotating polyethylene bottles with alumina grinding balls. The suspensions contained suitable amounts of organic dispersant and binding agent. All samples were produced by slip casting in plaster molds. The dimensions of the cavities of the molds, in which the test specimens are formed, were approximately 5 × 4 × 50 mm3.

实验步骤

制备了不同粉体混合物的水悬浮液,并在具有氧化铝磨球的旋转聚乙烯瓶中均质化。悬浮液中含有适量的有机分散剂和粘合剂。所有样品都是由石膏模具注浆成型法制备。形成试样的模具腔的(外形)尺寸大约为5×4×50 mm3。
