[Enjoy the beauty of simple words] A Steamy Romance Novel: BlueMoon
|

Hi all guys: I think most guys went English Cafe to seek some English improvement. We often admire the essays written by our brilliant moderators and super-moderators. Their writings are beautiful and full of splendid words, and make us further frustrated. We wish we could catch up with them, but this is almost impossible we know. We should admit the fact that they are academic tyrants, while we belong to academic dregs. They worked hard and passed TOEFL/GRE, while we are so lazy that we blow hot and cold. I once think that our writing will be good only if we have a wide vocabulary, and I hold this idea during the past several years, until I read some epic novels built upon simple words. Then, I doubt whether I am right. Maybe simple words also could craft beautiful patterns, as what the self-organization theory tells us. Here is one of them, gotten from the popular video game WOW. I really love and enjoy reading it. Hope you guys also love it. Mark 1: I have tried my best to translate them into Chinese several times, but I admit my failure. My words fail to express them graphically. You could have a try if you feel interested. Mark 2: This novel is a series of 7 stories, telling about a winner of life (人生赢家) dating with 7 different girls. If you are interested in other stories, you could Google or Baidu them. a) without a subtitle; b) Forbidden Love; c) Northern Exposure; d) Blue Moon; e) Big Brass Bombs; f) Hot and Misty; h) I am in love with a robot. Mark 3: I use blue words in [] to mark some elegant words I think, but I must miss many other words for avoiding many interruptions. A Steamy Romance Novel: BlueMoon [Note there is a common English phrase in the title: Once in a blue moon.] Tail swooshing and hips swaying, the curvy figure [better than the common word beauty] walked purposefully across the lake toward the man resting by the shore; rising quickly as she approached, he appeared visibly happy to be in her presence. Blue arms flowed over his shoulders as a smooth tail coiled seductively around his waist. [flow! coil used as a verb!] "Why must I travel so far to be meeting man like you?" Her voice carried a strong, alluring accent. [voice carried xxxx accent.] Grinning wildly, he gently pushed her away, openly staring as the light caught her features [openly! as the light catches your feature!]. "Up here!", she exclaimed in playful anger. [playful anger!] With a helpless shrug, he reached into his pack and pulled out a small pouch. "My wonderful Soola, I have brought you something." Confidence wrapped his words like a steel blanket. [wrap!] She plucked the tiny bag from his hands, excitedly pulling it open and revealing a citrine pendant. "Oh... Marcus, you should not have." The usual teasing was gone from his voice, "Every facet lights the sky, and my heart, with your beautiful reflection." [This sentence is elegant, and you definitely could use it to curry favor with your girlfriend! ]Soola frowned. "Uh... no. I meant you really should not have. I could craft something better by accident." For the first time, possibly ever, Marcus looked hurt. His shoulders slumped slightly, the cocky, ever-present grin missing from his handsome face. Soola opened her mouth to speak, smiling warmly; a glowing rune appeared above her eyes. "I do not think I can mend your feelings, even with my gift." Despite the statement, her words seemed to do the trick. [do the trick!] Marcus smirked roguishly as he adjusted his leg plates, "Well you are not the only gifted one." Silence penetrated the room with palpable force as the conversation shifted to the language shared by all races of Azeroth. Minutes became hours, [days become years!] until their passionate dialog was interrupted by lightning streaking from the cloudless sky, thunderously slamming into the lake's surface and bathing them in steam. [bath used as a verb!] "Is something wrong?", Marcus asked. "No my Marcus, you are just off to a great start..." [be just off to a start!] <The remaining pages have been thoroughly destroyed by the Elements. > [ Last edited by Xiedanhui on 2014-8-29 at 12:59 ] |

Thanks for sharing this, it really awoke lot of memories~~~ One of my roommate plays a Rogue character (I played a Mage...), and he actually, really stole a book in this series from a NPC, but not this one about bluemoon, it named Forbidden Love![]() |
