| As long as you have the standard curve(OD600-cell number) for a specific species, you can use the OD600 to get the rough cell number. To plot the standard curve, you need to test several OD600 of cell culture with diverse dilution, then count the cell numbers by using the hemocytometer. Then you will have a linear curve of OD600 over cell number. For example, Cryptococcus neoformans, which is a pathogenic fungi, has the cell number 1e7 with OD600=1. |
