http://www.znaturforsch.com/c.htm Information for Authors General Information Zeitschrift für Naturforschung C is open to contributions from all areas of animal and plant physiology, all aspects of biochemistry, neurobiology, virology and molecular genetics. Papers reporting mainly spectroscopic, X-ray, or other data of no general relevancy should not be submitted. All contributions are subject to peer review. Authors may suggest competent referees for their papers. Categories of Contributions Original papers Research notes not exceeding two pages in print Reports on current research of special interest Language: English Manuscript Submission Hard-copy Submission Manuscripts typed using double line spacing and with all pages numbered may be submitted in duplicate to: Redaktion Z. Naturforsch. C P.O. Box 2645 D-72016 Tübingen (regular mail), or Uhlandstr. 11, D-72072 Tübingen (courier service) Fax: +49 7071 360571 E-mail: znc AT znaturforsch.com Online Submission Authors may also submit their manuscripts electronically via e-mail to the Editorial Office: znc AT znaturforsch.com. In this case please provide a directly printable version of the contribution (e.g. a single PDF file or MS Word Document) to be forwarded for refereeing. Final Version After acceptance of the paper, the Editorial Office will ask for electronic files of text and figures of the corrected final version. Please consult the Technical Instructions below and provide all figures as separate EPS or TIFF files. These files have to be sent even if the article had been previously submitted electronically. Manuscript Preparation The material should be placed in the following order: Running title (maximal 60 characters) - Title - Authors' names (e.g. Jan Baier, Tom F. Miller, and John F. Kelly) - Address of the correspondence author with fax number and e-mail address, and differing addresses of further authors. (The name and the address of each author should be linked by superscripts a, b, c...) - Dedication (if intended) - Abstract - Key words (up to three) - Main text - Acknowledgement (if wished) - List of references - Footnotes - Tables with captions - List of all figure legends - Figures. Tables, equations, figures, and schemes are to be mentioned in the text in numerical order. They may be placed behind the above mentioned material or integrated on their places in the submitted file. Abstract: The abstract should be short, precise, and must be suitable for direct use by the abstracting journals (i.e. in particular without abbreviations and references related to the main text). Main Text: The main text should meet the highest standard as to novelty of the material, organization, and conciseness, and should be correct in grammar and style. References and Footnotes: Citations should be given in the text as (Adam and Becker, 1993) or (Grotjohann et al., 1993), and listed at the end of the paper in alphabetic order e.g. "Adam K.-P. and Becker H. (1993), Bisbibenzyl formation in aseptic cultures of Marchantia polymorpha L. Z. Naturforsch. 48c, 839-850." or "Grotjohann N., Schneider G., and Kowallik W. (1993), Different forms of...". Illustrations: Illustrations should, if possible, be designed for reduction to a one-column format (7.6 cm wide). They should be produced with a good quality laser printer and have lines, letters, numbers and symbols of uniform strength and contrast. Each figure has to be submitted on a separate sheet with the figure's number and the first author's name written in pencil on the back. Scaling of Artwork: For optimum reproduction, the illustrations should be larger than the desired final size. Authors should pay attention to the strength of lines, for some features (e.g. dotted and thin lines) may disappear after reduction. The other extreme, such as heavy lettering and thick lines, should be avoided. The final letter height is 1.5 - 2 mm. Color Figures: Additional cost for the reproduction of color figures in the print version must be paid by the authors. Details will be provided after acceptance of the manuscript. Proofs: The authors will receive page proofs. Please note that corrections should be restricted to typographical errors. Cost for extensive additional changes will be charged to the author. Reprint Orders: Please return the reprint order together with the corrected proofs. 25 reprints are free of charge, for additional reprints EUR 0.14 per page will be charged. Technical Instructions for Manuscripts and Illustrations in Electronic Form Text: Preferred text formats: RTF/WORD Layout guidelines Use a normal, plain font (e.g. Times Roman) in the same size for the abstract, main text, and references. Type using double line spacing. Use the automatic page numbering function to number the pages. Do not use field functions, especially not to create the list of references. Deactivate hyphenations. Do not use manual hyphenations. For indents use hard returns or tabstops (but not space bars). In Word for Windows, use the table function to make tables. Use the equation editor of your word processing program or MathType for equations. Submit equations created with MathType as separate files converted in LaTeX. Place any figure legends or tables at the end of the manuscript. Submit all figures as separate files and do not integrate them within the text. Illustrations: Preferred figure formats: EPS for vector graphics exported from a drawing program and TIFF for halftone illustrations. The file name (one file for each figure) should include the figure number. Figure legends should be included in the text and not in the figure file. Scan resolution: Scanned line drawings should be digitized with a minimum resolution of 600 dpi relative to the final size, halftones with 300 dpi/final size. Color illustrations: Store color illustrations as RGB (8 bits per channel) in TIFF format (resolution 150 dpi/final size). Vector graphics: Fonts used in the vector graphics must be included. Please do not use drawing functions of Word. Do not draw with hairlines (minimum line width: 0,2 mm/final size). Avoid heavy lettering and thick lines. Lines, letters, numbers and symbols should have uniform strength and contrast. |
