The laboratory is led by Dr. Hebin Li and the research interests focus on the study of light-matter interaction and its potential applications. Particularly, the laboratory¡¯s areas of interest include ultrafast spectroscopy and quantum optics. In ultrafast spectroscopy, femtosecond laser pulses are used to study properties of various materials. Ultrafast spectroscopic techniques such as pump-probe, four wave-mixing and multidimensional Fourier-transform spectroscopy will be utilized to study many-body physics and electron dynamics in atoms/molecules, semiconductor nanostructures, and 2D materials. In quantum optics, quantum mechanical properties of light are studied and used to probe/manipulate different quantum mechanical systems. The interaction of light with atomic system, nitrogen-vacancy center in diamonds and semiconductor quantum dots will be studied in the context of quantum information processing and quantum metrology. The research will be carried out in a very well-equipped laboratory including a tunable femtosecond laser system, high resolution spectrometers, actively stabilized platform for multidimensional spectroscopy, nano-resolution delay stages, stable semiconductor laser systems, photon counting equipment, and liquid helium cryostat. Successful applicants for postdoc visiting scholar position should have a PhD degree in physics or related discipline with laboratory experience in optics, atomic physics, and/or semiconductor nanostructures. Successful applicants for PhD student position should have a BS degree in physics or related discipline with knowledge and interest in optics, atomic physics, and/or semiconductor nanostructures.
