Meanwhile, smart phones, tablet PCs, power banks and other consumer electronic products are steadily growing. The lithium battery (LIB) and materials market demand were driven. Electrolyte is one of the four key materials of lithium ion battery (LIB); it has an important impact on the safety, performance and cost of the battery. Currently, the global electrolyte and LiPF6 productions mainly concentrated in China, Japan and S. Korea. In China, the electrolytes, solvents and additives have been mostly produced domestically, with the commercial production of DFD, JiuJiuJiu, price of LiPF6 also continuously declined. As the prices decrease of raw material and the intense market competition, in 2013 domestic electrolyte prices fell by 25%. To develop the international customers -- battery manufacturers with good cash flow and nice reputation are concerned by China’s electrolytes producers. With the improvement of battery energy density and safety requirements, both the domestic and overseas electrolyte producers are expanding the capacity and enhancing the technical service, and also, actively developing the new lithium salts, high voltage electrolyte, silicon anode used electrolyte, and gel electrolyte. 3rd China LIB Electrolytes Conference will be held on Aug. 28-29 2014 in Shanghai. The upcoming conference will discuss China’s EV market and its impacts on LIB electrolyte, the projects investment of LIB, electrolytes and LiPF6, the trend of high-end lithium battery and its requirements on electrolytes, the next generation electrolytes and the innovative Li-salt development trends, Polymer LIB and its impacts on traditional electrolytes industry.
