The laboratory of Catalytic Process Engineering is looking for a talented and highly motivated individual (chemical engineers or chemists), who seek training in the field of Catalysis & Chemical Engineering.

PhD position: "Development of spatially-resolved measurement techniques for catalytic reactions"

The aim is the development of innovative instrumentation tools and experimental methodologies to build and evaluate sophisticated kinetics models for catalyzed reaction networks in the field of sustainable energy conversion. In detail, the doctoral students will develop spatially-resolved measurement techniques that allows gathering information on gas composition, catalyst surface species and temperature profiles along the reactor axis. By doing so reaction kinetics, reaction mechanisms and transfer phenomena can be investigated in much more detail. Within this research program the reaction network of the production of synthetic natural gas (SNG) from biomass and conversion of CO to chemical and fuels will be studied. The successful candidates will be responsible to design and build catalytic reactor setups, and to synthesize, characterize, and test catalysts, and determined reaction networks and kinetic parameters as well as assist with scientific and technical reporting, and presentation of results. Applicants for these positions are expected to have a Bachelor and Master in Chemical Engineering. Experience in the field of reaction kinetics, reactor design and heterogeneous catalysis is an advantage. We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and creative individual, able to work in a team and with good communication and presentation skills.
