The group of Dr. Chen Huang in the Department of Scientific Computing at Florida State University is seeking highly motivated applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in computational materials science. The Dr. Chen Huang's group focuses on developing multi-scale quantum mechanics simulation techniques to understand and tackle challenging electronic structure problems in catalysis and strongly correlated materials. The Associate will join our effort to understand and design novel catalysts for catalytic processes, such as carbon monoxide conversion, that are closely related to clean energy research. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, or a closely-related field. Experience in computational chemistry, physics, or materials science is required. Projects will involve using quantum chemistry and density functional theory, therefore research experience in at least one of these two fields is required. Applicants should have an established record of scientific research and publications. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Good programming skill is desired. This position is available after September 1, 2014. All applications will receive full consideration until the position is filled.
