西澳大利亚大学半导体专业招博士生、联合培养博士生、访问学者

PhD positions (semiconductor technology) available in the University of Western Australia (a member of Go8 - top eight universities in Australia) The MBE Research Lab in School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at University of Western Australia invites applications for PhD positions in semiconductor optoelectronic materials and devices. The MBE Research Lab is one of two main research groups in Australia working on compound semiconductor optoelectronics. As a part of the WA Node of Australian National Fabrication Facility, it has access to all the research facilities for semiconductor optoelectronic research, ranging from molecular beam epitaxy facility, various material characterization facilities, various device processing facilities integrated in a class 1000 cleanroom as well as various device testing facilities. World-class research on infrared optoelectronic devices, especially HgCdTe infrared detectors has been demonstrated in the last 20 years, as evidenced by the numerous high impact scientific publications and many national and international competitive research grants received. These grants include ARC Discovery, ARC Future Fellowship, ARC Linkage (with industrial partner Raytheon), USA DARPA (with industrial partner SELEX Galileo), and direct industrial grants, e.g. Agilent Australia. The research lab is led by Associate Professor Wen Lei, an Australian Research Council Future Fellow with the research focus on developing next generation infrared optoelectronic materials and devices, and next negation energy conversion and storage devices. Current research areas include: • HgCdTe and HgCdSe infrared materials and devices, • HgTe topological insulator • On-chip integration of mid-infrared chemi/bio sensors • Semiconductor nanostructures and their applications in optoelectronic devices • Nanocrystal memory • Solar cells We are looking for outstanding candidates who will perform cutting-edge research on the ongoing projects in the research lab, especially infrared optoelectronic materials and devices. The successful candidate will be offered an Australian scholarship (around $28,900/year) to support his/her study in Australia. PhD candidates or academic visitors with Chinese Scholarships/Fellowships, such as CSC and others are also warmly welcome. To be considered for these Ph.D. positions, the interested candidates should meet the following criteria: — Master in Electronic Engineering, Semiconductor materials and devices, Semiconductor physics — Solid knowledge and experimental experience in the area of semiconductors. — Knowledge in device modelling is a plus. — Ability to pursue independent research. — Ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team. — Excellent writing and communication skills in English. — English language competency for PhD admission, see http://www.studyat.uwa.edu.au/postgraduate/admission/english-competency Applications including your motivation letter, CV, Bachelor and Master transcripts, and contacts of two referees shall be sent to Professor Lei via wen.lei@uwa.edu.au.
