Pomeron Physics and QCD (Cambridge Monographs on Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics and Cosmology) by Sandy Donnachie (Author), Gnter Dosch (Author), Peter Landshoff (Author), Otto Nachtmann (Author) Product Details Hardcover: 360 pages Publisher: Cambridge University Press (December 9, 2002) Language: English ISBN-10: 052178039X ISBN-13: 978-0521780391 eview ‘The authors have considerable expertize and experience, which they particularly bring to bear when presenting their ideas on the use of non-perturbative techniques to study the pomeron. They are also the principal advocates of the idea that there may be two pomerons, with one pomeron dominant in soft interactions and the other dominant in hard interactions such a well written and accessible book as this is most welcome. high-energy processes. provides an excellent introduction to the subject.’ Cern Courier Book Description This volume gives an account of modern knowledge of Regge Theory and QCD, an active area of high-energy particle-physics research. It records what has been learned in the past, what is relevant now, and what is essential for the future. The authors cover forty years of research and provide unique insight into the theory and its phenomenological development. The phenomenology is applied to a variety of reactions and is compared extensively with experiment. This is essential reading for particle physicists and is suitable as a graduate textbook. About the Author Sandy Donnachie obtained his PhD from the University of Glasgow in 1961. He is currently Professor of Physics at the University of Manchester, a post he has held since 1969. Gunter Dosch was awarded his PhD in 1963, from the University of Heidelberg. Since then he has held positions at the University of Heidelberg, CERN, the University of Karlsruhe and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Peter Landshoff qualified for his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1962. He is Professor of Mathematical Physics there and is Vice-Master of Christ’s College. Otto Nachtmann obtained his PhD in 1967, from the University of Vienna. Since 1975 he has been a professor at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Heidelberg.
