He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Akira Fujishima’s group at Tokyo University. In 1996, he worked as a senior researcher in the Kanagawa Academy of Sciences and Technology under Prof. Kazuhito Hashimoto. In 1999, he joined ICCAS as part of the Hundred Talents Program. In 2009, he was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently a professor at ICCAS and Dean of the School of Chemistry and Environment, Beihang University.
