JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Senior Engineer, Mechanical (Rotating Equipment)
Reports to: Manager, Mechanical
Location: Shanghai
Job Objectives:
The mechanical engineer is responsible for and has to coordinate all rotating equipment (rotating equipment, and units) activities. He/She will be assigned to project teams on request, to be responsible for mechanical investment project volume of up to ? 5 million.
Main Responsibilities:
 Support the Project/Engineering Manager with regard to Rotating Equipment engineering issues;
 Support and coordinate with other disciplines regarding Rotating Equipment issues;
 Coordinate, monitor & control all Rotating Equipment engineering activities for associated equipment towards contractors working at multiple projects;
 Represent the owner interests in the project towards contractors, vendors, construction companies, etc;
 Provide technical expertise and joined project teamwork on request for Mechanical Engineering Team;
 Establish local know-how and market contacts in the Rotating Equipment discipline and share with other /new project teams in BASF Asia Pacific and globally;
 Establish and keep close contact to the related engineering discipline at BASF globally e.g. headquarter Germany (good English skills required);
 Prepare Cost Estimates;
 Prepare Basic Mechanical Data Sheets;
 Evaluate Technical Bids from Suppliers;
 Technical Review of Vendor Drawings and Calculations;
 Perform Vendor shop audits and visits;
 Supervise Cost and Schedule for Mechanical Part in a Project;
 Implementation of improvement measures;
 Upon request provide technical support for commisioning, maintenance and operation of rotating equipment.
Qualifications:
 Bachelor degree with major study in Mechanical or Chemical or Electrical engineering mandatory - Master degree will be an advantage
 At least 5 to 10 years total work experiences .At least 3 to 5 years experience with maintenance or design & comissioning  or operation of large rotating equipment (compressors, turbines and supporting systems)
 Open minded active, creative team-player and self-motivated.
 Skilled in relevant software and tools.
 Proficient spoken and written English and Chinese (mandarin) skills
