Section Editor Aquaculture Reviewers' comments: Reviewer #1: General comments Major comments The manuscript contains numerous spelling errors or careless mistakes that need to be corrected (e.g., line 28: hydrophila not hydrophilais; line 31: infection not infestation; … see below). The abstract and the discussion sections are very long in comparison with the result section (35 lines only) and have to be reconsidered (probably taken into account some remarks raised below) and simplified/reduced. The reviewer has doubt concerning the quality and the usefulness of the qPCR assay. The authors have used the CFU method to evaluate the A. hydrophila concentration for the bacterial challenge while they after used the qPCR approach to evaluate the infection levels in the fish samples (see Table 1). The choice of these experimental approaches has to be clarified. Healthy fish have been tested by qPCR to rule-out a possible 'natural' portage of A. hydrophila? No information is given concerning the future of treated fish vs untreated fish. For instance, the relative percent survival (RPS) index could be used to evaluate the true effectiveness of sanginarine over 1-month post-treatment.
