Chemotherapy is beneficial for palliation in patients with locallyadvanced and metastatic disease.Adjuvant chemotherapy is generally indicated for patients with resected stages IIA through IIIA NSCLC.Although chemotherapy is appropriate for many patients with lung cancer, there is a sense that the use of traditional chemotherapeutic agents has reached a therapeutic plateau. Increasedunderstanding of cancer biology has revealed numerous potential therapeutic strategies,including targeting EGFR and other signal transduction and angiogenesis pathways. |
