上口语班，讲到的一些日常生活中很常用也很好用的的Idioms。分享给大家，以后会更新，喜欢的就学习起来吧 （以后会更新） 1、Keep your chin up. / keep your head up. [We say this to encourage a person. You are talking them to be confident or not to be sad about something.] eg: a:Hey, how have you been lately? b:...Not very good. I lost my job recently...and I had a terrible job interview today. a:I'm so sorry to hear that. Keep your chin up, tomorrow is another day. b:Thanks, I really needed some encouragement. 2\ Same old, same old.(Same ol', same ol'. ) [When nothing changes, it is same old same old.] eg: a:How has your work been recently? b:Same old same old. Nothing new or exciting. a:What did you do today? b:Nothing really, just stayed at home and read the News. a:Read anything interesting? b:Not really, same old same old. Lots of war and rich celebrities. 3\ I am having second thoughts. [If some has second thoughts, they start to think that an idea is not as good as it sounded at first. Maybe they had given an idea but later realized that was not a good idea.] eg: a:I heard that you are planning on moving to Canada next year. b:Yeah...but I'm having second thoughts now. a:Why is that? b:I should really rather work on my Spanish. So I am thinking that I may move to Mexico instead. a:That sounds like a good plan! Good luck! 4\ The more the merrier. [This means that the more people there are, the happier the situation will be.] eg: a:What are you up to this weekend? b:A group of friends and I are heading to the mountains to go camping. a:that sounds great, do you think I could possibly join you guys? b:Of course! The more the merrier! We are taking a bus there so there is plenty of room. a:Great! In that case, I might invite one of my classmates to join us well. a:I bought some wine for the party on Saturday. b:Me too. I bought a few bottles of red wine. a: Oh well. The more the merrier, right?! |
