Postdoc and Graduate Student position in Chemical Biology at Georgia State University in Atlanta There are a number of openings for postdoctoral fellows and graduates students in Professor Jun Yin’s lab at the Department of Chemistry, and the Center for Diagnostics and Therapeutics of the Georgia State University in Atlanta, USA. Funds for these positions are guaranteed by the NSF and NIH grants of the Yin lab. Please visit the Yin lab website below for detailed information. http://chemistry.gsu.edu/Yin.php http://cdt.gsu.edu/ Postdoctoral fellows will be developing methods to identify the substrate proteins of important E3 ubiquitin ligases, engineering E3 enzymes to control protein ubiquitination in the cell, and designing inhibitors to target protein modification by ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins such as Nedd8 and SUMO. The postdoctoral fellows will use various biochemical and cell biology methods including phage display, yeast cell surface display, structure-based design, and proteomic analysis to achieve the research goals. Desired postdoctoral candidates should have solid training in molecular and cell biology including cloning, protein expression, enzyme kinetics, bacterial and mammalian cell culturing, and preferably analysis of mammalian cell proteome. Multiple positions are also available for graduate students at the PhD level interested in elucidating the mechanism of cell signaling mediated by ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins. Students will develop strong skills in the broad area of chemical biology such as organic synthesis, protein engineering, enzyme catalysis, inhibitor design, protein posttranslational modification, and mechanism of signal transduction in the cell.
